Positron emission tomography (PET) is an imaging technique using to observe biological processes happening in the body in real time. It is widely used in the human clinic for e.g cancer diagnosis. Preclinical PET imaging is applied to small animals. The aim of this application is to perform blood sampling in mice and rats to validate preclinical PET data and quantify biological processes of interest. Animals will be anaesthetised during the whole procedure and euthanised at the end of the process. In addition, animals will be monitored throughout the whole study. The use of animals for blood collection is unavoidable. We are applying to perform blood sampling in 45 rats and 100 mice. Data retrieved will be used for further analysis at our facility.
